Here are three positive factors over the Los Angeles Rams deciding to hold off on an extension for Lamarcus Joyner.
As the Los Angeles Rams continue to prepare for the start of training camp in a few weeks, all eyes were on whether the team would pull off a surprise move on Monday by rewarding safety Lamarcus Joyner with an extension. Earlier in the offseason, the Rams decided to use the franchise tag on Joyner over Sammy Watkins after an impressive first season at safety after making the switch from cornerback.
With Monday’s deadline to give players under the tag an extension, Los Angeles decided to hold off on making the move with Joyner, and while some fans may seem frustrated over the move, it’s not the end of the world for the NFC West champions. Making sure Joyner would be around for years to come is obviously something the Rams would love to see since he seems to be only getting started with his potential at safety, but the most important factor he will still be suiting up for the team in 2018.
Thanks to the team’s surprise success last season, expectations are higher than ever for Los Angeles heading into the upcoming season, and whether this team has what it takes to live up to the Super Bowl hype will come down to the play of guys like Joyner.
