Los Angeles Rams: 30 greatest players in franchise history
By Dan Parzych
If all goes well over the next couple of years, chances are that defensive tackle Aaron Donald will end up much higher on this kind of list. His impact in his first four seasons with the Rams is simply undeniable. Frankly, he might be the best player in the NFL today. He’s just that talented.
Donald is already at a stage in his career where many believes he deserves consideration for being the league’s top defensive player, even if his numbers aren’t as great as others. He’s right there with J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans as the best defensive lineman in football at the very least.
Keep in mind that when Donald finished a season like 2017 with 11 sacks and five forced fumbles in 14 games, he managed to do so while receiving all sorts of extra attention from opponent. It usually takes more than one player to stop him.
With 39 sacks over his first four seasons, Donald is only going to continue getting better with experience. When seeing the potential surrounding this defense heading into 2018, the Rams have every reason in the world to be excited.
Thank goodness Los Angeles (St. Louis at the time) was fortune enough to see Donald slip to No. 13 in the 2014 NFL Draft. One can only imagine what the defense would have been like over the last four years without him.
One way or another, Donald is the kind of player that is always going to figure out a way to get to opposing quarterbacks. His amazing work ethic has resulted in him already earning recognition as one of the all-time greats to suit up for the Rams at just 27 years old.
