This list has been filled with numerous players that were fortunate enough to spend their entire career playing for the Rams. Offensive tackle Jackie Slater played all 20 of his NFL seasons with the organization. That is almost unheard of these days.

Not to mention, when looking at the heavy workload offensive tackles tend to take protecting their beloved quarterback, this makes Slater’s 20 years with the Rams even more amazing to think about.

Los Angeles truly believed they were getting someone special in Slater when they decided to use a third-round pick on the tackle back in 1976. While his playing time was limited over the first three seasons, the patience paid off in a big way.

The 1979 season marked the first time that Slater started all 16 games for the Rams. As fans remember, that was the year in which they earned a trip to the Super Bowl with a team loaded with talent on both sides of the football.

It wasn’t until 1983 in which Slater earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl. Unfortunately, the Rams’ season come to an end in the Divisional Round of the playoffs following a difficult loss to the Washington Redskins.

Earning a spot in Canton wasn’t even a debate when looking at the impact Slater made throughout his career. It should also be noted that he not only did a phenomenal job with quarterback protection, but also making life easier for running back Eric Dickerson when he came on board.
