With training camp getting underway for the Los Angeles Rams this week, it looks like Aaron Donald won’t be present at the start.

Over the last couple of months, one of the main questions surrounding the Los Angeles Rams has been whether Aaron Donald would be present for the start of training camp to avoid another situation like last summer.

Around this time last year, there was some frustration between Donald and the Rams, as the defensive superstar was fighting for a new deal, despite the fact that he still had two years remaining on his rookie contract.

However, with the circumstances much different this time around, Los Angeles fans were hoping to see a deal in place before the start of training camp to avoid any chance of another holdout on Donald’s end.

Unfortunately, it looks like Rams fans will have to continue being patient a little longer with the Rams beginning to show up for the start of training camp on Wednesday, with Donald nowhere in sight. In other words, it looks like Los Angeles will be dealing with a hold from Donald for a second year in a row, confirming the fear from fans over the last couple of months.

When considering other players like Todd Gurley and Brandin Cooks have been been rewarded with hefty extensions over the last week, Rams fans can’t help but wonder why Donald wasn’t taken care of first.

But when looking at how Donald’s contract is expected to be a little more complicated since he will most likely be seeking a ton of guaranteed money, the argument can be made that Los Angeles is taking care of as many players as possible beforehand just to be safe.

Still, these early signs of another holdout don’t take away from the frustration that negotiations were apparently going on since the middle of last season, meaning Donald arguably should already have been taken care of by now.

Unlike last summer, Los Angeles has high expectations heading into training camp as a top contender in the NFC, and it’s extremely important to have every player out there over these next few weeks, including Donald.

Hopefully, the Rams can finally get this deal taken care of sooner rather than later with Donald to put the team in a better position to live up to the hype. Otherwise, it’s only going to risk Donald continuing to be unhappy down the road in the future, which is the last thing Los Angeles or their fans want to see.
