Finally, some news on the Los Angeles Rams, Aaron Donald, and where this saga may or may not go from here.
Very quietly, the Los Angeles Rams made some news that looks to have flown under the radar. On the subject of defensive tackle Aaron Donald, fans may want to rethink the proposition that eventually No. 99 will be in camp preparing for the 2018 season, and the load of expectations that come with it.
Could happen, but might not at all.
The online resource Dictionary.com, defines stalemate as “any position or situation in which no action can be taken or progress made.”
Stalemate may best describe the current situation that exists between the Rams and AD.
In a moment of remarkable transparency, Rams COO Kevin Demoff, a fan favorite in both St. Louis and now Los Angeles, went on the record with some plain truth and said that, in regards to negotiations with Donald and his representation, that “we just don’t agree.”
Interesting and refreshingly candid, given the canned answers that are spoken by those made available to the media on a daily basis. For all the coach-speak and wish casting, Demoff said what most may have thought, but were too hopeful to say.
If push has met shove, fans may need to accept, perhaps begrudgingly, that Donald and the Rams are someplace they may not come back from anytime soon. For AD and his camp, this is about fair market compensation here and now. For Los Angeles, it’s about a window of opportunity and long term sustainability.
Who knew fans could count on Demoff to get this one right.
