The Rams were about as splashy as a team could be in the offseason. Free agency yielded some big ticket items aimed at doing one thing: making a legitimate Super Bowl run.

Can I get a show of hands of those who are willing to place such aspirations and expectations on the shoulders of Sean Mannion?

Anyone?
Exactly!

Los Angeles is in position to do big things this season. Loaded with remarkable talent, this team is set up for right now. They are, with solid quarterback play from Goff, in position to make that run, as is. Having to step back and dumb down an offensive playbook for Mannion isn’t part of the plan.

The Rams have all their eggs in one basket, which isn’t something exclusive to an NFL team. But imagine if that basket (Goff) suddenly gets turned upside down. Can Mannion help deliver on those expectations?

That’s a hard leap to make.

I’ve often pointed out the rare luxury the Philadelphia Eagles have in two bonafide starters on the QB depth chart.

Bottom line is the Rams have only one. One day after a bad showing in Baltimore, it’s fair to wonder if Los Angeles could sustain any success with Mannion taking the snaps in the regular season.

That answer is pretty clear today.
