If one game is a blip, two games is a trend. Look for McVay and the Rams to keep the trend going as star players will again remain on the Los Angeles sideline.
This week, I get.
McVay, in addition to being on the record as no fan of playing starters in games like these, is also no fan of playing teams in the exhibition season he will see come the regular season.
I get that too.
A downside of course is another no muss, no fuss kind of game plan for the Rams. While I don’t expect a carbon copy kind of performance like fans saw last week against the Baltimore Ravens, I do expect to see an attempt to get the offense and defense to play a better game.
Los Angeles really needs a better game for the coaches tape.
Week 2 against the Raiders is a great opportunity for McVay to push his reserves. Those who will make the opening day roster have a chance to make the most in front of the home fans, before the Rams get into next week against the Texans.
That’s when you can expect most of LA’s key players on the field for the first time in 2018, breaking a trend McVay won’t be very fond of.
