5. Shields continues comeback story

Back in 2016, Sam Shields suffered a devastating concussion early on in the regular season before he would eventually go on to be placed on IR when he was a member of the Green Bay Packers. Even tougher for the cornerback, Shields ended up sitting out all of last season while continuing to recover after the Green Bay Packers made the tough decision to release him in the offseason.

This offseason, the Rams knew they had nothing to lose by signing Shields since they knew he was capable of making an impact on defense if he could manage to stay healthy, and return to his old playing ways. Thanks to an impressive preseason with Los Angeles that even consisted of an interception two weeks ago when facing the Houston Texans, Shields played well enough to earn himself one of the roster spots to keep his amazing comeback story alive.

Stacked doesn’t even begin to describe how Los Angeles looks at the cornerback position led by Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters along with the rest of the talent Wade Phillips has to work with. With Shields finally healthy, this unit has the chance to be even more dangerous in 2018 to put the Rams in better position to live up to the high expectations.
