4. Hemingway fails to earn roster spot

Over the last couple of weeks, there have been plenty of members on Los Angeles that were on the bubble at multiple positions, with Temarrick Hemingway being one of the candidates at the tight end position. After using previous draft picks on players like Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett in recent years, Hemingway seemed like was going to have a difficult time convincing the team he was worthy of a spot on the roster at tight end, especially since the Rams could use his spot at other positions.

Turns out, that was exactly the case for the 2016 sixth-round pick after Los Angeles decided to place him on waivers Saturday, which as bad as it sounds, was best for the Rams as a team. Between all of the potential surrounding Higbee and Everett under McVay along with the fact that Hemingway missed all of last year after suffering a fractured fibula in the preseason, this decision shouldn’t have come as a surprise at all.

Some will question whether Hemingway deserved to take Johnny Mundt‘s spot on the roster, but when it comes to McVay, the Los Angeles head coach is smart enough to know which players are worth keeping around. The situation may have been different if Hemingway didn’t suffer that devastating injury, but hopefully another team will take a chance on the tight end.
