3. No surprises at wide receiver

On paper, Los Angeles seems like they’re going to have one of the league’s top trios at wide receiver thanks to key players in Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, and Cooper Kupp. Most quarterbacks would do anything to be in the kind of position that Jared Goff finds himself in with all this talent to work with, and as exciting as it’s going to be to watch these three together in 2018, there were some questions heading into camp over the rest of the depth at the position.

Beyond these three, the Rams didn’t seem to have a clear favorite for the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, although they had a few candidates in min. While Pharoh Cooper was hoping to be more involved on offense after doing most of his damage on special teams in 2017, Los Angeles was also looking to see Josh Reynolds and Mike Thomas step up as well.

Other than Cooper finding the end zone against the Texans, these three receivers were pretty quiet over the last couple of weeks during preseason, but were still able to convince the coaching staff to give them a chance to come through when it matters the most during the regular season. Giving these three roster spots over other players like Fred Brown or KhaDarel Hodge may seem questionable to some, but from a safe approach, this was the correct call by the Rams.
