2. Rams decide to keep Davis around

Around this time last year, Justin Davis was one of a few players from the Rams that benefitted from a strong preseason, and even though he seemed like an easy choice heading into camp this year for a roster spot, there was some concern as a result of a hamstring injury. Believe it or not, Davis was one of the few highlights from the team’s embarrassing loss to the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 1 of preseason, but many wondered if the hamstring injury would prevent him from earning a roster spot.

Between Malcolm Brown deserving another chance despite a poor preseason for the most part along with John Kelly emerging as the leading rusher for the Rams over the last couple of weeks, Davis was facing a difficult challenge when it came to earning a roster spot. But thanks to McVay knowing what he was capable of at running back, Davis no longer has to worry about losing his spot after the team decided he was worth keeping around at running back.

Once Davis gets healthy enough to return to action on the football field, it will be interesting to see the ways McVay tries to use him on offense since the head coach does have a history of bringing the best out of his players. Not to mention, thanks to the emergence of Kelly, Davis could end up losing carries to the rookie running back.
