4. Cardale Jones

Similar to the situation with the Steelers and Big Ben, the Los Angeles Chargers are in the same boat with Philip Rivers nearing the end of his career over the next couple of years, despite the fact that he continues to be a top quarterback in the league. Without question, Rivers is one of the most competitive quarterbacks in the NFL, and even though the Chargers were in good shape from a backup perspective with Cardale Jones, it looks like the former Ohio State star missed out on the No. 2 spot to Geno Smith.

Despite all of his struggles for the most part over the years, Smith has turned out to be a great fit in Los Angeles when looking at the kind of preseason he put together. Seeing how Rivers has started every game dating back to the 2006 season, there doesn’t seem to be that much concern over the possibility of getting hurt at some point this upcoming season, but also it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Since Jones appears to be the odd man out, the Chargers may as well shop him around to see if they can get anything in return. Even if it’s just a mid-round draft pick in exchange for Jones, this would still be better than nothing.
