2. Robert Griffin III

After failing to sign with a team all of last season, Robert Griffin III finally found a new home with the Baltimore Ravens with the intention of providing the team with a reliable backup to Joe Flacco if he could stay healthy, and return to his old form. But instead of being a lock for the No. 2 spot at quarterback, Griffin has been forced to compete with Lamar Jackson this preseason after the Ravens traded back up in the first round last April to land the former Louisville star.

Just like some of the other veteran quarterbacks mentioned before, Flacco is another one of those players that seems closer to retirement, as it could even happen after this year, and nobody would be surprised. This year’s draft class was loaded with first-round talent at the quarterback position, and when looking at the kind of playmaker Jackson was at Louisville, it’s easy to understand why they were excited to see him still available at the end of the first round.

Griffin’s experience may give him a slight advantage over his rookie teammate, but also he knows that Baltimore never would have selected Jackson if they didn’t intend on trying to make him the franchise quarterback at some point once Flacco is done. Once again, Griffin is in one of those tough situations where the Ravens could easily decide they would be just fine without him.
