1. Tom Savage
Around this time last year, Tom Savage was excited to finally receive a starting opportunity with the Houston Texans while allowing Deshaun Watson to start off his rookie season learning from the sidelines. As every football fan knows, that didn’t last too long after Savage displayed a horrendous outing on opening day against the Jacksonville Jaguars in which he was sacked six times, and eventually would be benched for the rookie Watson.
This time around, Savage has found himself a new home with the New Orleans Saints, but with the team recently acquiring Teddy Bridgewater in a trade from the New York Jets, the same could happen with Savage. Whether Savage wants to hear it or not, the Saints never would have acquired Bridgewater if they didn’t have questions about their backup quarterback situation, meaning it can’t hurt to explore trade options now.
Being on the move again would seem frustrating for Savage, but at least an opportunity with a team like the Rams could be something to be excited about. Plus, with McVay’s history of developing quarterbacks, a move like this would benefit Savage even more, and put Los Angeles in much better shape at the backup quarterback position, although the hope is the team would never need him.
