The Rams finally got the one player they absolutely needed to have on the field in 2018. When the team finally reached an agreement with defensive lineman Aaron Donald, a collective sigh could be heard across a league coming to grips with what is clearly going on in Los Angeles.

Truth is that GM Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay effectively put together a Pro Bowl type of defense that could carry a lot of teams deep into the postseason. The bet in Los Angeles is when added to the best special teams unit in the NFL, and an offense that is as explosive as any you’ll see on Sunday, a deep playoff run is expected to lead to a Super Bowl.

Without question, the centerpiece is the defensive line with Donald and Ndamukong Suh. Coordinator Wade Phillips also has Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib at his disposal. Without question, expectations will be high.

If there is any question, it’s the potential that the unit as a whole doesn’t gel. The other possibility is the highly volatile type of personalities that have been added exploding on the field or worse, in the locker room. Either way against the Raiders, fans and the NFL as a whole get to see just how good that defense can be on the prime time stage of Monday Night Football.
