Week 1 for the Los Angeles Rams has a road trip up the coast for a game against the Oakland Raiders.

The Week 1 Monday Night matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Oakland Raiders has a different feel than you might have thought as recently as two weeks ago. Today, the Rams have the benefit of defensive player Aaron Donald at their disposal, while the Raiders have new draft picks for trading away their best player on either side of the football.

Sigh.

Rams versus Raiders will be a good chance for Los Angeles to iron some things out on offense. Head coach Sean McVay made the decision to keep his high scoring unit on the sidelines during the 2018 preseason, so Monday night is a good chance to work on what he did not in those games.

It’s also an opportunity to see what many are touting as an incredible top 5 NFL defense, especially with Ndamukong Suh and Donald up front, and the likes of Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib in the backfield.

Additionally, look for Rams running back Todd Gurley to pick up where 2017 left off. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year could potentially have a big night. For good measure, look for special teams with punter Johnny Hekker and kicker Greg Zuerlein to add to an evening where the Raiders being remarkably average allows for the Rams to look very good.

Hey, it’s Week 1.
You take what you can get.
