17. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The first weekend of regular season action tends to be filled with plenty of unexpected surprises, and there’s no question the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushing the New Orleans Saints on the road ranks right near the top of that list. After seeing how this team ended up being one of the biggest disappointments during the 2017 season, the Buccaneers were viewed as one of the biggest mysteries heading into Week 1, especially with Jameis Winston serving a three-game suspension.

Seeing Ryan Fitzpatrick fill in for the mean time made it seem like Tampa Bay would be looking at a 0-3 start since they would be facing all playoff teams from last season without their star quarterback. But after seeing Fitzpatrick shine in one of the most unexpected ways possible while facing a top defense in New Orleans, the Buccaneers are all of a sudden being viewed as a potential threat in the NFC.

Sure, this was only one game, but also watching Fitzpatrick torch the Saints for 417 yards with five touchdowns (one rushing) shows the Buccaneers may actually turn things around in 2018. And who knows, maybe if Fitzpatrick continues to play at a high level over these next two weeks, there will actually be a quarterback controversy in Tampa Bay.
