25. Detroit Lions

Imagine being the Detroit Lions starting off the first game of a new season with an interception returned for a touchdown against the New York Jets, and thinking it’s going to be a smooth night, only to end up losing the game by 31 points. To say the Lions received a big wakeup call in Matt Patricia’s debut would be a huge understatement when seeing how ugly this game got for Detroit in the second half.

What’s even more crazy to think about is how the game was actually tied 17-17 at the beginning of the third quarter before the Jets went on to score 31 unanswered points to pull off one of the biggest surprise wins of Week 1. Not to mention, when seeing how banged up Matthew Stafford, who finished with four interceptions, looked in the loss, it will be interesting to see what his status is over the next few days to see if he’ll be ready to go against the San Francisco 49ers.

Competing in the NFC North is turning out to be extremely difficult this year when looking at how good all the teams look, and the Lions can’t afford to lose games like this one at home like they did to the Jets. And to think, this was supposed to be the game in which Detroit showed off their new improved backfield that only rushed for 39 yards as a team.
