Los Angeles Rams: 3 positives from 33-13 win over Oakland Raiders
The Los Angeles Rams kicked off their season with a bang, defeating the Oakland Raiders 33-13 in Week 1.
Like every team in the NFL, the Los Angeles Rams wanted to get off to a fast start in the 2018 season after they were viewed as one of the top winners of the offseason with numerous key additions on both sides of the football. Luckily, the Rams did just that in their dominating performance over the Oakland Raiders on Monday night with a 33-10 victory.
In the first few possessions, it seemed like Los Angeles would get a close, competitive game, but that proved to be short-lived. Thanks to some key adjustments at halftime, the Rams looked like a completely different team in the second while the Raiders took a major step back after beginning the game on a hot note.
On the Raiders first drive on offense, the team easily marched downfield, scoring a touchdown to begin the game. Marshawn Lynch had a tough, 10-yard run to cap off the Raiders first possession. The Rams started slow, going into halftime down 13-10. The Raiders wanted to make it a physical game from kickoff.
In the second half, plenty of adjustments were made by the Rams. They would flip the switch en route to 23 unanswered points in the rest of the game. That is very nice to see from a team that has huge aspirations of a Super Bowl this season. There were definitely a few positives that came out of this victory for the Rams, and it’s time to take a look at some of them, beginning with the secondary.
