2. Cory Littleton looked impressive at linebacker

One of the huge question marks coming into this season for the Rams was, who was going to play inside linebacker, with Cory Littleton appearing to have an opportunity to step up. Littleton played alongside Ramik Wilson at inside linebacker, and the Rams couldn’t have asked more from him during Monday’s game against the Raiders.

Littleton would finish the game leading the team in tackles with 13 while also recording an interception on Carr, along with a pass deflection. This is a huge positive for the Rams going forward. With Mark Barron injured, someone will need to step up in his absence, and Littleton definitely provided huge dividends immediately.

Rams fans got a small taste of what Littleton could do last season. Everyone saw little flashes of the type of athlete he was. This offseason, the Rams knew they had something special in Littleton as an inside linebacker. This is why the Rams feel comfortable starting the undrafted linebacker from 2016, as Littleton’s presence will help the level of play the Rams get out of their linebackers this season.

If there is a weakness on this Rams’ defense, by default it’s the linebackers. That’s not saying this group isn’t or will be very talented at the end of the season though. Either way, Littleton could have himself a breakout year this season if he can replicate his Week 1 performance consistently.
