3. Defense keeps Bradford under 100 passing yards

After losing Carson Palmer to retirement after the 2017 season, the Cardinals were in a tough position heading into 2018, mainly because they felt their talent on offense was good enough to make them playoff contenders. Instead of focusing on developing a younger quarterback like Josh Rosen, Arizona wanted to take advantage of their current team to potentially put an end to their two-year playoff drought, which is where Sam Bradford came into play.

Investing all of that money on a quarterback with a history of struggling to stay healthy like Bradford was a bold move for the Cardinals, but also shows how desperate they were at the position. Plus, with teammates in David Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald to work with, Arizona put Bradford in a great position to succeed, but unfortunately it’s been a bit of a struggle for the veteran.

As if failing to throw a single touchdown pass in Week 1 wasn’t already frustrating enough, Bradford couldn’t even figure out a way to cross the 100-yard passing mark against the Rams’ defense. Los Angeles bulked up on the defensive side of the football this offseason, and was expected to be one of the top units in the league, but even a statistic like this is quite impressive when taking all of these factors into consideration.
