The Arizona Cardinals enter Week 5 still looking for their first win on the 2018 NFL season. Rookie quarterback Josh Rosen takes his Cards to the Bay Area for a divisional contest against the San Francisco 49ers, who have their own QB issues.

Arizona, who has performed better on the offensive side of the football the last two weeks, probably has their best opportunity for a win against the Niners. San Francisco, who lost 29-27 last week on the road to the Los Angeles Chargers, who roll again with backup quarterback C.J. Beathard.

For the Cardinals it’s simple. Sure, a win keeps them in the cellar, but gives them company with the 49ers.

As I’ve written, Arizona is a team in rebuild mode. That said, they have a ton of hope that Rosen gives them something that veteran QB Sam Bradford could not. Through the first two games, the Cardinals managed only six points. In week 3 and Week 4, they scored a combined 31 points.

Indeed, hope springs eternal in the desert.

Week 5 is perhaps the best shot Arizona has to log a first win. After their game in San Francisco, they’ll head to Minneapolis for a game against the Minnesota Vikings before playing the Denver Broncos in Week 7 and a home rematch against the Niners in Week 8.

Sunday could tell fans in Arizona just how long the 2018 season may be, even more how long they may have to wait for a win.
