1. Goff protecting the football better
With the rate he’s playing at, there’s a good chance Goff is going to find his name in the conversation for the MVP award when the time comes a few months from now. Heading into last season, there were some Rams fans that were still questioning whether Goff was the right answer for this team under center, but it looks like trading up in 2016 was the best decision they ever could have made to last the former California star.
After failing to win a single game as a rookie, mainly due to a poor offensive line and horrendous receiving corps, Goff flourished in his first year playing under McVay’s offense, and early signs point to these two just scratching the surface of their potential working together. But as great as it was to see Goff lead the way on offense for Los Angeles during Week 5, the one area he could improve on the most is protecting the football.
Yes, the interception before halftime shouldn’t count since that was a long shot from the start, but keep in mind that Goff also threw another interception, and even lost the football twice, although both times, it was recovered. Against a fierce defense like the Broncos, mistakes like these from Goff could end up being costly.
