With snow in the forecast, the Los Angeles Rams could be relying on Todd Gurley even more on Sunday when they face the Denver Broncos.

After playing three of their first four games in 2018 at home, the Los Angeles Rams knew they were going to be in for a difficult battle with three games in a row on the road beginning last weekend in their win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Up next, the Rams will travel to Colorado to take on the Denver Broncos that originally seemed like a favorable matchup on paper, but could end up being quite challenging.

At first, Denver appeared to have returned to their winning ways from a few years ago following a 2-0 start, but the team has lost each of their last three games, with the latest coming this past Sunday on the road against the New York Jets.

With all due respect to the Jets, this seemed like a game the Broncos should have been able to get by with little trouble when looking at how the two teams matchup on paper, and now this puts even more pressure on them to turn things around with the Rams coming to town.

Numerous factors have come into play so far this season when it comes to the success of Los Angeles, and there’s no question this team wouldn’t be where they are without Todd Gurley in the backfield.

The former Georgia standout seems to have picked up right where he left off last season in which he finished second in the MVP voting behind Tom Brady in which he finished with 2,093 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with 19 touchdowns.

As impressive as it’s been to see Gurley find the end zone nine times already in 2018 through five games, Week 5 was the perfect example that even when he doesn’t have his best game from a statistical standpoint, he can still come through when needed the most by recording touchdowns.

Facing the high-powered defense of the Broncos led by Von Miller is going to be far from easy for Gurley and the Rams to deal with come Sunday. And even though it was already assumed that Los Angeles would heavily rely on their star running back, it looks like Gurley’s workload could hit a whole new level with snow in the forecast for Sunday’s game.

Every football player and fan knows that playing in the snow is never the easiest task in the world, so the Rams relying more on the ground game instead of moving the football through the air could very well come into play.

Even if Jared Goff is forced to switch it up a bit by throwing it when necessary, this shouldn’t take away from Gurley’s workload since the Rams quarterback already relies on him a ton as a receiver as well.

The good news for Los Angeles is if the snow does become a serious factor, and the offense is forced to rely more on Gurley to produce, this shouldn’t be an issue at all since he’s never been shy about playing as many snaps as he can handle.

Either way, whether it happens to be Gurley or someone else taking on the heavier workload, as long as the Rams end up winning the game, this is all that matters the most. Being 5-0 is impressive, but Los Angeles going 6-0 before wrapping up their road trip in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers is better.
