The San Francisco 49ers didn’t look half bad in a 33-30 loss against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. It took a lot of late fourth quarter magic by quarterback Aaron Rodgers to put Green Bay in position for a game winning field goal as time expired.

In Week 7, those same Niners get an undefeated Los Angeles Rams team in an NFC West rivalry that has actually been favorable for San Francisco the last two season.

As good as the 49ers were in Green Bay, especially on defense, they’ll need to be just that against a Rams team who has some injuries on both sides of the football.

Quarterback C.J. Beathard had a decent night against the Packers and had his his team positioned for a win. He completed 16 passes on 23 attempts for 245 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

The Niners are in the midst of a season turned upside down with injuries, most notably to quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. At 1-5 and sharing cellar space with the Cardinals, a win against their division rival Rams would be a highlight in a first half of the 2018 season. That said, as well as they seem to play against Los Angeles, the talent gap on the field will be noticeable.

If they can find a way to slow down running back Todd Gurley they will have a chance.

Problem is six other teams haven’t been able to do that.
