The Cardinals limp into a Week 7 game against a Denver Broncos team who just lost at home to the still undefeated Los Angeles Rams. For the Cardinals, it’s a game against a beatable opponent, and it’s also a game they need.

Like San Francisco, Arizona is looking to climb out of the NFC West cellar. With a change at quarterback and a loss on the road to the Minnesota Vikings, the Broncos are a team who also has some issues.

Head coach Vance Joseph is likely a candidate for a mid-season dismissal if things don’t change and change quickly. In Week 6, a loss to the Rams probably wasn’t illogical, but a loss to a 1-5 Cardinals could be a death warrant in Denver.

Arizona is looking at an opportunity heading into the halfway point of the 2018 season. Week 7 and Week 8 present two good chances to post back-to-back wins against teams who are also struggling, including a quick rematch with the 49ers. That would give them a 5-3 record heading into November.

Currently both the Cardinals and 49ers are at the bottom of the NFC West. With the Rams as the clear cut favorite and class of the division, Arizona is looking to stay out of last place. Even in a season with a rookie at quarterback among three other teams that are down, being somewhere in the middle might not be that bad.
