2. Additional pressure on Beathard

Since Garoppolo is officially out for the remainder of the season, the 49ers will be relying on C.J. Beathard over these next few months, which isn’t exactly the worst thing in the world for Kyle Shanahan‘s team. Even though he may not be on the same level as Garoppolo, Beathard has played better than expected in recent weeks given the circumstances, but the quarterback will face one of his biggest challenges to date when taking on the Rams.

Facing one of the league’s top defenders in Aaron Donald is one thing when looking at how little trouble he sometimes has at plowing through opponents, but adding Ndamukong Suh to the mix has taken things to a whole new level for the defense. One can only imagine how opposing quarterbacks must feel each time they’re snapping the football knowing that Donald and Suh are waiting to hit them on the other side, which Beathard gets to be part of come Sunday.

After only getting to Case Keenum twice in Week 6 while allowing the former quarterback to finish with two touchdown passes as well, the Rams need to make sure both of these areas improve when facing Beathard. Otherwise, it’s only going to put the 49ers in a much better position to pull off the potential upset.
