3. Offense adjusts fine without Kupp

One week after suffering a concussion against the Seattle Seahawks, the Rams lost Cooper Kupp to a sprained MCL on a play that can only be described as dirty when facing the Denver Broncos. At first, Kupp’s injury seemed to be bad enough that it would keep him out for an extended period of time, and while that may still end up being the case, Los Angeles is treating the situation on a week-to-week basis.

Kupp missing in action was certainly a crushing blow when looking at the impact he continues to make for the Rams on offense during his second NFL season, but the good news for McVay is the head coach knew the unit would be just fine without him when facing the 49ers. Not only is Los Angeles still dangerous with Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods leading the way at receiver, but also Kupp’s absence allowed other players like Josh Reynolds and recently signed Nick Williams to see additional playing time.

Of course, whether this means Los Angeles will see similar results during next weekend’s game against Green Bay is a different story since their defense is arguably a lot better than what they saw in San Francisco. Still, at least Sunday’s performance by the Rams gives them a little extra confidence boost over how they may look if Kupp is unable to go once again in Week 8.
