Todd Gurley has found the end zone at least once every game so far in 2018 for the Los Angeles Rams

After finishing second in the MVP race to Tom Brady last season as a result of finishing with 2,093 yards from scrimmage to go along with 19 total touchdowns, all eyes were on Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley in 2018 to see if he could match that production, or even come close.

To say that Gurley has picked right up where he left off for the Rams would be a huge understatement not just because he’s played a key role behind the team being undefeated prior to Sunday, but also due to his impressive touchdown streak.

As impressive as it was to see Gurley find the end zone in every game of 2018 before Sunday’s meeting with the Green Bay Packers (14 total touchdowns), it was even more impressive to consider how his crazy streak of 10 games with a score dated back to last season.

Even more exciting, Gurley was able to extend that streak during Sunday’s game against the Packers after hauling in a 30-yard touchdown catch from Jared Goff in the third quarter.

So along with Gurley continuing to find the end zone in each of the team’s eight games so far in 2018, it should also be noted that his streak dating back to last season has officially increased to 11 games to help him earn a spot in franchise history.

It should also be noted that the 15 total touchdowns through eight games in 2018 with the Rams happens to be a franchise record as well, meaning Gurley’s amazing start just seems to get better by the week.

When looking at everything Gurley was forced to overcome following a 2016 season that consisted of him failing to record a single 100-yard rushing game, it’s amazing to see how much the running back has flourished in Sean McVay‘s offense so quickly.

Depending on how the final two months go since a lot could happen from now until the end of December, chances are Gurley will be a strong candidate once again to take home MVP honors, although others like Patrick Mahomes II could be standing in his way.

Still, the most important factor for Los Angeles is Gurley continues to help them win key games, and put them in the best position possible to earn the top seed in the NFC since winning the Super Bowl is a top priority for the team.

Gurley setting records is great, but hoisting the Lombardi Trophy is a feeling unlike any other that Los Angeles would love to experience come February, whether their running back’s touchdown streak is still alive by then or not.
