1. Shane Ray
Despite all of the expectations surrounding Los Angeles in the offseason when looking at all of the talent on both sides of the football, it never hurts to have as many effective pass rushers as possible to put the defense in the best shape possible. And since the Rams have already seen their name appear in reports about teams that could possibly at another pass rusher by the end of Tuesday, Shane Ray is another name to keep an eye on.
Even though he hasn’t played in each of the last two games as a result of an ankle injury, the Denver Broncos defensive end seems like he would make a great fit on numerous teams looking to boost their defense for a second-half run to make a push for the playoffs. With all due respect to Denver, this team is quickly watching their season go downhill after losing five of six games following a 2-0 start, and if they’re looking to make some moves before the deadline, it would be interesting to see if Ray is viewed as a potential trade target for teams.
Keep in mind that Ray was a first-round pick back in 2015 for a reason, and he did manage to record eight sacks back in 2016. If there were a way in which Phillips could help him return to that effective level of play, this could be a great move for a team like the Rams.
