Sean McVay offered the needed vote of confidence to Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters after a disastrous performance in New Orleans.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has given cornerback Marcus Peters a needed vote of confidence after the high priced talent was torched by the New Orleans Saints in Week 9. Peters, who is admittedly not playing well, has owned up to his lack of production and has appeared dedicated to “fixing it.”

He needs to.

Peters is on a galactic slide to mediocrity and unless he gets past his f*** it attitude, he can quickly become the one guy who keeps the Rams from being a contender beyond a deep playoff run.

Peters is seeing a lot more targets in 2018, and Sunday against the Saints, it was obvious he’s struggled being the focal point of the opposing offense.

Heading into Week 10, Peters has a 45.6 grade and now ranks 106th among 111 cornerbacks. Already in 2018 he’s allowed more yards in coverage than he did in all of 2017.

So much for that perceived vaunted defense that the Rams opened up the checkbook to.

It’s not good, and how they get better is anyone’s guess. With the lone bright spot being defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who himself had a bad game in New Orleans, you wonder when Los Angeles will see any bang for their buck this season.

The one bright spot on the horizon is the thought that the Rams will likely get Aqib Talib back possible for a Week 13 game at the Detroit Lions. That will be tremendous for LA, but two tough games loom before the Thanksgiving holiday with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday and a major showdown against Patrick Mahomes in Mexico City against the Kansas City Chiefs.

No small task.

McVay is riding with who he has, meaning he needs to stand behind his now beleaguered cornerback for the balance of 2018 and hooping his high octane offense can keep putting up a lot of points. Which is what’s needed to overcome a bad defense in Los Angeles.
