The future of Pete Carroll

Ramblin’ Fan: What is the feeling regarding head coach Pete Carroll and his future in Seattle.

Lee Vowell: Pete Carroll will leave when he wants to leave. The only question for this is that if the Seahawks get sold the new owner might want to bring in new people. But Carroll has been far too successful and has maintained that success for too long to simply need to be let go. Seattle would have reached 4-4 with few other coaches. Carroll may not be the best coach in the NFL but he is very good. That said, he is the oldest coach in the NFL. He might be gone from the Seahawks sooner rather than later, but it will still be his call when he does leave.

Team MVP and who is disappointing so far

Ramblin’ Fan: Who is your MVP right now and who has been a disappointment?

Lee Vowell: As far as the Seahawks MVP goes, that is a bit of a tough question. Seattle is a .500 team. If Russell Wilson played well against the Chargers they might be 5-3. But Wilson makes this team better than it is. There a re players that Seattle can ill-afford to lose long-term like Chris Carson , Jarran Reed, Frank Clark and Bobby Wagner so I don’t think that the Seahawks have one true MVP this year.

As far as disappointments go, I’d have to say that Rashaad Penny has been the biggest one. He was drafted in the first round but I don’t think many 12s thought he would take Carson’s place to begin the year. The problem is Penny hasn’t progressed much as the season has gone on. He will need to be better in the second half of the year.
