The Los Angeles Rams will get to face former wide receiver Sammy Watkins after all on Monday after the Kansas City Chiefs speedster was listed as active for the Week 11 meeting.

Over the last couple of days, there’s been plenty of speculation surrounding whether the Los Angeles Rams would get to face former wide receiver Sammy Watkins during Monday night’s battle against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With the Chiefs coming to town, the status of Watkins has been up in the air as a result of a foot injury the wideout has been dealing with, but it looks like he’ll be ready to go to square off against the team he spent the 2017 season with.

Right before the start of last season, the Rams made a surprise move in the middle of preseason by acquiring Watkins from the Buffalo Bills to provide Jared Goff with another dangerous weapon to work with in the passing game.

At the time, there was plenty of excitement surrounding the addition since there had been numerous times when healthy in which Watkins looked like an effective weapon, mainly because of his speed.

Numbers wise, the 39 catches for 593 yards in 15 games during the 2017 season didn’t seem all that impressive by some, but also keep in mind that Watkins drew extra attention from defenders to help open up the way more for some of his teammates like Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp.

Not to mention, it should also be noted that Watkins managed to find the end zone eight times, so it was clear he was a great fit for the Rams on offense.

With that being said, Los Angeles found themselves in a tough situation this past offseason when it came to Watkins since as much as they wanted to use the franchise tag on him, Lamarcus Joyner seemed to be the better option, which he was.

As for Watkins, well as everyone knows, this decision by the Rams allowed him to test the open market in free agency. And when seeing the hefty contract the Chiefs were willing to throw his way, it’s easy to see why he made the decision to move on.

Of course, the decision by Watkins to go elsewhere ended up being the best thing to happen for Los Angeles since Brandin Cooks, who was acquired in the spring from the New England Patriots, never would have ended up joining the team.

Revenge games are always fun when it comes to the NFL, and even though there’s really no reason for bad blood involving Watkins with the Rams since he was only there for one season, this will still be exciting to see.

Now that Watkins is healthy enough to play, all eyes will be on the Chiefs wideout to see if he ends up torching some of his former teammates on defense, assuming he stays healthy enough to play the whole game.

At least for Kansas City, Watkins may have the advantage in this battle when seeing how much the defense of Los Angeles has struggled for the most part in recent weeks, but also here’s to hoping some of the players are feeling a little extra fired up to keep the football out of his hands.
