For those who look at the score from Monday night and see a huge loss for the defense, think again. Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald absolutely harassed Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. His two sacks led to LA points as the defense forced five turnovers total including an interception by Samson Ebukam returned for a touchdown.

Without fail, it was a night that the offense was front and center. But Week 11 in the Coliseum turned on two defensive plays that would be deciding factors in the game, as both Lamarcus Joyner and Marcus Peters had late interceptions that ultimately stopped the Chiefs.

As good as Mahomes was, and his numbers were incredible, 33 of 46 for 478 yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions and two fumbles lost, it would be the defense of the Rams that made a would be MVP look rattled coming down the stretch of a prime-time showcase on Monday Night Football.

That’s significant for an LA defense that has been suspect, despite what fans may choose to ignore.

Best of last night, was how effective Donald was. He was every bit the 2017 Defensive Player Of The Year and could likely repeat in winning that award in 2018.

On a night the defense needed to come up big, they did, despite what the final score says.
