The Week 11 Monday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs was the kind of game ESPN, MNF, and the National Football League needed. For all the naysayers who constantly opine that all is well with the league, know that what fans saw last night in the Coliseum was good for fans beyond Kansas City and LA.

It was also a marker put down by both franchises and both head coaches. Both Sean McVay and Andy Reid unleashed an offensive torrent that has a lot of NFL coaches and quarterbacks wondering how in the world do you keep up if either of these two teams show up on the schedule.

It was especially good for ESPN and a MNF franchise not what it once was. Growing up, Monday Night was must see TV. Fact is, it hasn’t been or at least seldom is.

With the backdrop of some remarkably tough and tragic times in Los Angeles, a game once destined for Mexico City showed up in the right place at the right time. The LA Coliseum was the perfect venue for a city needing a good night. They got it, and the Rams and a Chiefs put on a show that won’t soon be forgotten.

Unless they do it again in Atlanta come February and Super Bowl Sunday.
