The 10-1 Los Angeles Rams get back at it this week when they play the 4-7 Detroit Lions. It’s also a game that has some interesting side-notes fans may want to consider.
On a week where the Los Angeles Rams finally got to their long needed bye, the team closest to them in the NFC West keeps finding wins to hang around. The Seattle Seahawks managed to go all the way to the East Coast and play a team they kind of resemble in the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers are 6-5, just like the Seahawks, and both trail a 10-1 team in their division. The Rams had hoped to finally clinch their division, and it seemed reasonable with Seattle flying back east, and playing in that early broadcast window.
Not so fast LA.
Seattle, behind great quarterback play with Russell Wilson, beat Carolina 30-27 forcing the Rams to wait a week, or maybe more.
If Los Angeles is hoping for Week 13, they may want to think again. The Seahawks host a bad division rival in the 2-9 San Francisco 49ers while the Rams travel out of the Pacific Time Zone to play the 4-7 Detroit Lions. Keep in mind fans, the last time LA ventured east of the Mississippi River they lost to the New Orleans Saints.
Just sayin’.
Taking the ‘home game’ in Mexico City / Los Angeles out of the equation, the Rams have had remarkably easy road travel as the months of September and October had LA venturing beyond the Pacific Coast just once, and that was to play the Denver Broncos in a Week 6 game they’d win 23-20, so it’s worth noting that in 2018 the Rams are 0-1 when leaving the cozy confines of the Western Time Zones.
Again, just sayin’.
Also worth noting, it’s the first game this season that the Rams will play in the early broadcast window of 1:00 ET.
For those thinking the Rams playing the Lions is an absolute walk-over, think again. Week 13 in Detroit is something Los Angeles hasn’t faced yet this season.
