The NFL has some very good candidates to consider for 2018 Coach Of The Year. The best one is the one who won last season, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay.

The Los Angeles Rams enter Week 13 at 10-1, are coming off of a record breaking Monday Night Football game that lit up the scoreboard and the ratings, are in a fight for home field advantage in the playoffs, and are trending towards having a better record in 2018 than they did in 2017.

Sounds like Sean McVay should be the 2018 NFL Coach Of The Year, doesn’t it?

You can make an argument, a good one as a matter of fact, for Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs given the breakout season second year quarterback Patrick Mahomes is having. You’ll get an argument for Sean Payton as the New Orleans Saints are also having a tremendous season with the same record as the Rams at 10-1, and with a possible MVP in Drew Brees.

Maybe you like someone like Matt Nagy for his work with the Chicago Bears and his second year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

Good candidates all.

In my opinion, the better of them all is McVay. He’s bucking a trend of slipping in year two after a rookie season where the Rams looked to have overachieved. He’s also managing expectations and in most cases exceeded them. If you watch enough NFL media, you’ll hear how Los Angeles is setting trends with how they handle players and protocols inside the locker rooms, and doing the things organizations do to make themselves a magnet for free agents looking to win in an environment relatively stress free and player centric.

Bottom line, McVay gets it and it’s being manifested on the field in year two of his tenure with the Rams.
