Todd Gurley’s ankle looked just fine for the Los Angeles Rams during Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions.

A few weeks ago when the Los Angeles Rams put up 54 points against the Kansas City Chiefs, fans were quite surprised to see not a single touchdown was recorded by Todd Gurley.

At the time, Gurley had been almost unstoppable to keep out of the end zone with 17 touchdowns to his name, which is part of the reason why it was so surprising to see him come up short during that win over the Chiefs.

However, when it was revealed shortly after the game that Gurley was dealing with a minor ankle injury, all of this made a little more sense, although there was also a little concern.

When seeing how valuable of a weapon Gurley has been on offense over the years, the last thing the Rams wanted to do was put their running back at risk during the final stretch of the regular season.

Between battling it out with the New Orleans Saints for the No. 1 seed in the NFC to living up to the hype in general as a top Super Bowl contender, Los Angeles knows Gurley is going to be a major factor in whether all of this happens.

Luckily with some extra time off as a result of the bye week, Gurley was able to take advantage of earning some extra rest before the team’s recent game against the Detroit Lions, which they won 30-16.

During that game, Gurley made it clear right away there were no reasons for concern surrounding his ankle after recording 165 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with two touchdowns.

By finishing with these kind of numbers, Gurley’s ankle seems like a non-issue, and the running back should have little trouble putting up the necessary numbers over the final four games to put the Rams in the best position possible for January.

With an 11-1 record, Los Angeles has been able to live up to the Super Bowl hype from the offseason by making a strong case for being a top team to beat in the NFC. And now that Gurley quickly returned to his normal ways after that ankle scare, it’s only going to put the Rams in better position to help them continue living up to that hype when it matters the most in the playoffs.
