In an absolutely ugly game, the Los Angeles Rams lose to the Chicago Bears 15-6 at Soldier Field.

The Los Angeles Rams played their worst game on a night where their opponent, the Chicago Bears, weren’t a whole or better. Nonetheless, Sunday night in the Windy City landed with a loud and troubling thud as they would lose 15-6.

The loss is a costly one as the New Orleans Saints won earlier in the day, and as the race for home field advantage heats up, it’s the Saints who now sits atop the NFC. Fans now have some things to lament as for the second week in a row, the team who put 54 points on the Coliseum scoreboard two weeks ago, looks to be sputtering. Look no further than quarterback Jared Goff who played easily his worst game in 2018.

Goff was bad.
Real, real bad.

The quarterback who as recently as thanksgiving was considered a dark horse MVP candidate, looked lost, hurried, rattled, and generally out of sorts as he’d toss a staggering four interceptions. His line reads like it was his first NFL game, completing only 20 passes on 44 attempts, throwing zero touchdowns and giving up four easy interceptions.

Rams fans looking for a silver lining will note Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was only slightly worse, throwing for a paltry 110 yards on 16 completions and 30 attempts.

The biggest head-scratcher will be Los Angeles running back Todd Gurley who was seldom used on a night it seemed logical he would be. In the cold of the Chicago night, Gurley would only run the ball 11 times for 28 yards. For reasons that will be questioned in the coming days, head coach Sean McVay kept perhaps his best offensive weapon under wraps on a night he was clearly needed as Goff was about as effective as a dull knife.

Perhaps the road game in cold weather got the best of LA. Maybe it was a good Bears defense that shuddered the Rams offense. Whatever it was, it was a second game Los Angeles looked like a team unlike the one fans saw prior to the bye week.
