The Los Angeles Rams lost in ugly fashion to the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, 15-6 on a cold night at Soldier Field.

The Los Angeles Rams lost a 15-6 stinker to the Chicago Bears that opened the door to some serious questions about a team who looked to be steamrolling to everything from an NFC West title, to being the best team in the NFC, to a legitimate Super Bowl contender. While one loss and an 11-2 record may not necessarily change all those predictions, they did look awfully bad and for a second straight week, pretty mediocre.

Sports talk radio and those who analyze on the big cable networks didn’t necessarily sound the alarm bells, but the loss in Chicago wasn’t treated as a one-off either. If you look at the loss to the Bears as a blip, I’d quickly reference you to Week 13 against the Detroit Lions and say the Rams may be moving towards a trend with quarterback Jared Goff.

For those fans who quickly discount Sunday night in Chicago, well, lots of addresses are available on the island of Fool’s Paradise this time of year, as a closer look shows a thin offensive line, a head coach who seemed all to willing to bail on the best part of the Rams offensive attack, a quarterback who looked bad at best, and the fact that for two straight weeks, defense stymied the Los Angeles offense. An offense that posted 54 points just two weeks ago.

But hey, in the world of fandom, facts and what the eyes see don’t often mean much when propping up a now reasonably suspect narrative.

Sean McVay wasn’t a good coach last night, Goff wasn’t a very good quarterback, Todd Gurley wasn’t a factor, and in a 15-6 loss, the Bears with Mitchell Trubisky at the controls bested the team a lot of people in the NFL had penciled in for Atlanta come February.

Bottom line, facts don’t care much about your feelings, and if you’re totes cool with last night, then you also went to bed thinking the Rams still had an MVP on the roster.
