After nearly three seasons, fans and pundits alike still ask the question who was the better quarterback coming out of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Los Angeles Rams selected Jared Goff first while the Philadelphia Eagles took Carson Wentz second in a debate still being settled.

It seems like a long time ago when the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles had the top two picks in the 2016 NFL Draft. Since then, a lot has happened to both quarterbacks and both franchises with most of it of a positive nature. For Carson Wentz, his sophomore season saw his Eagles get to and win a Super Bowl despite his tearing his ACL/LCL. While 2018 has been a tougher season, he is still battling after missing the first three games.

For Jared Goff, it’s been a reversal of fortunes since a dismal rookie season that saw him go 0-7 to begin his professional football career. The best news for Goff came when the Rams cashed out the disaster that was former head coach Jeff Fisher and replaced him with Sean McVay. The change took him from a near bust to a now near franchise quarterback and MVP candidate.

While Goff hasn’t yet led Los Angeles to a Super Bowl, this season looks to be a distinct possibility for the third year quarterback to do what Wentz did, or was doing, before his injury.

The jury is still out on both as they have yet to complete even their third season. While prospects for the Eagles are fading, they remain a distant playoff long shot as they head to Los Angeles to play the Rams in a Sunday night contest that has both top quarterbacks from the 2016 draft a good argument for who may have been the best selection.
