With three weeks to go, the Los Angeles Rams host the Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles with a backup quarterback in a familiar role.
With the Christmas holiday nearly upon us, the Los Angeles Rams will look to finish the month of December with a flurry. Three games remain in the regular season, and their Week 15 opponent is one with a lot of familiarity and curious parallels.
News broke yesterday that the Philadelphia Eagles will sit quarterback Carson Wentz for their game against the Rams and possibly for the rest of the season with a back injury.
The Eagles, defending Super Bowl champions, look to be on the outside looking in where postseason play is involved. At 6-7, the playoffs are a long shot even with 2017 miracle worker and feel good story Nick Foles, a former Rams quarterback, back in a familiar role.
Los Angeles meanwhile is looking to rebound from their loss to the Chicago Bears. Rams quarterback Jared Goff was suffocated by a dominating defense unlike what the LA offense has seen this season, and running back Todd Gurley was held to a mere 28 yards in the 15-6 loss. Even Sean McVay was not above criticism for a game plan that left a lot of fans and analysts scratching their collective heads.
Since their bye week and since coming off of their epic 54-51 win against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Rams have looked mortal. Perhaps they are or maybe not, either way, Week 15 is a chance to calm the waters.
