For the sake of their playoff hopes, the Los Angeles Rams better hope the knee injury Todd Gurley was dealing with during Sunday’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles ends up being minor.

Despite being one of the top teams in the NFL heading into Sunday’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Los Angeles Rams knew they were going to be in for quite the challenge against the defending champions.

Turns out, this game ended up being even tougher for the Rams in the second half when Todd Gurley was spotted on the sidelines to start the third quarter.

Nobody needs to explain just how dangerous of a running back Gurley is when seeing how he finished second in the MVP voting last season, and had already found the end zone 20 times during the 2018 season, one of which came on Sunday against Philadelphia.

However, fans were caught off guard when it was discovered that Gurley was questionable to return with his knee wrapped on the sidelines since after a devastating loss on the road a week before to the Chicago Bears, this was the last thing Los Angeles needed to deal with.

With all due respect to John Kelly, who took over at running back before Gurley returned towards the end of the third quarter, the rookie running back is nowhere near the same level as the former Georgia star. And as great as it was to see Gurley return when he did, Los Angeles needs to focus on the big picture when it comes to their beloved quarterback.

Watching the Rams’ offense without Gurley at times against the Eagles was painful to watch, and this kind of play simply won’t cut it in the postseason.

After all of their success from the regular season along with having one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league, it would be absolutely devastating to see Gurley suffer some sort of injury this late in the year, which is why the team needs to be cautious.

Gurley returning to the game was certainly a great sign, but also the last thing the Rams can afford is to put their running back at risk to make the injury worse.

So with two games remaining in the regular season before the playoffs get underway, here’s to hoping that Gurley’s knee injury end up only being minor while the Rams take a cautious approach following Week 15.

Otherwise, Los Angeles could be in trouble on offense come January, but also there’s no reason to jump to that conclusion with Gurley at this point.
