With running back Todd Gurley expected to be back for the Rams home playoff game, optimism should and will be high that when paired with veteran C.J. Anderson, the Los Angeles offense will be firing on all cylinders.

It also means that quarterback Jared Goff could be firing on all cylinders too.

Goff’s struggles can be drawn directly to a running game that began to sputter as Gurley began to feel the effects of knee inflammation. The addition of Anderson helped an offense that was stuck in the mud.

It also allowed for the Rams to rest their best and most important offensive weapon.

It’s no secret that as Gurley goes so goes Goff, and so go the Rams. The Los Angeles running back is clearly the straw that stirs the drink and his lack of availability could have spelled disaster for LA.

The two weeks of rest added to the additional week for the Rams bye gives Gurley an opportunity to get healthy, or at least healthier at just the right time. Additionally, what can’t get lost in that equation is how critical his presence is to Goff. It’s lost on no one that with a less than robust running game, the Rams quarterback is less effective. With Gurley back, no telling how much better LA can be as they trek towards a Super Bowl.
