Rams may not be the home team in the Coliseum against the Cowboys

The Los Angeles Rams may be playing a home game on Saturday night, but the Dallas Cowboys and their huge fanbase may prove to be a difference maker in the Coliseum.

The Los Angeles Rams got an extra week of rest and perhaps the more popular team in LA as an opponent, as the Dallas Cowboys will be something more reminiscent of a “home team” come Saturday night.

The Cowboys, who better than anybody has a significant fan base in every NFL city, will more than likely enjoy a good representation in the venerable Los Angeles Coliseum, maybe even more so than the home team Rams.

Dallas, who finished the season at 10-6 and the NFC East Champion, beat an NFC West entrant, the Seattle Seahawks 24-22 at Jerry World to advance to a showdown against the the second seed Rams in a showcase of the two best running backs in the NFL in Todd Gurley and Ezekiel Elliott.

For the home team Rams, the Cowboys are a team who plays better defense that they do and has an equally effective running back in Elliott. It’s also a team who will more than likely enjoy a significant advantage as the road team in Los Angeles, as Dallas enjoys a much higher national profile than the Rams.

Will that translate to a win?

That’s hard to say, but for a Los Angeles defense who’s been pushed around all season by good to average running attack, Dallas could enjoy a record rushing game from the jump. Elliott had a fairly solid game against Seattle, rushing for 137 yards on 26 carries and scoring one touchdown. It’s also the kind of game that allowed for quarterback Dak Prescott to throw for 226 yards on 22 for 33 for one touchdown and one interception.

Bottom line not unlike the Rams, success and wins run through their running game.

Los Angeles will face two opponents on Saturday night. First will be hot team with a better defense and an equally good running back. The other may be a home field advantage decidedly for the road team.
