With the Los Angeles Rams facing the Saints in the NFC Championship Game, the affair in the AFC between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs may be a changing of the guard.

For football fans, Championship Sunday is one of the best weekends of the year. In 2018, a great argument can be made that the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, Kansas CIty Chiefs, and New England Patriots are without question the four best teams in the NFL (sorry Los Angeles Chargers fan).

Coincidentally, both title games feature rematches from regular season games that had the home team win. In Week 6, the Patriots hosted the Chiefs, beating them 43-40 and in Week 9, the Saints beat the Rams at home 45-35. While New Orleans gets Los Angeles in the Dome again, the Pats are on the road in Kansas City.

Sunday is also two games that better than anything represents something of a generational shift, as two young quarterbacks in Jared Goff for the Rams and Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs take on veteran Super Bowl quarterbacks in Drew Bress and Tom Brady.

Whoever your team, Championship Sunday could be a day where a changing of the guard takes place. Los Angeles hasn’t been relevant since the Greatest Show on Turf, and the Chiefs haven’t been to a Super Bowl since 1969.

The Saints won it all in 2009, and the Patriots seem to be there most every year making their first appearance in 1985, and most recently last season, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Super Bowl could just as easily have a fresh look with new faces like Mahomes and Goff as it could two veteran gunslingers like Brady and Brees. Either way, Sunday looks to be a day that delivers, whoever wins and moves on to Atlanta.
