The Los Angeles Rams won their way into the NFC Championship Game, and they will ultimately win or lose based on how they play, not on who the officials are.

The Los Angeles Rams aren’t the second best team in the NFC championship Game. They are 13-3 and have the same record as their opponent on Sunday the New Orleans Saints. Both teams are stacked with talent, have perhaps the best coaches in both the conference and the league, and have MVP quality players a on both rosters.

So why in the world would a fan preemptively look for an excuse should the Rams lose?

An online petition at change.org is asking for official Bill Vinovich to be removed from Sunday’s championship game because he’s been part of a crew where the Rams have a record of 0-8.

First, the idea that fans of this team, any team, or any league should have input in who officiates a game isn’t just borderline preposterous, it’s insane. Further, the idea as floated by a fan on Twitter that this is the NFL’s master plan to have Saints quarterback Drew Brees in the Super Bowl is equal to, if not even more crazy.

If Los Angeles loses, it’s because they either played a bad game or New Orleans played a better one. Either way, what happens for sixty-minutes on the field of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be the only metric used to measure a win or a loss for the Rams.

Los Angeles is playing on Super Sunday because the won 13 games, including one of the best and most entertaining games against the Kansas City Chiefs, signed C.J. Anderson which has been huge, and beat the consummate media darling, the Dallas Cowboys in a playoff game many picked them to lose.
