It looks like the Los Angeles Rams won’t be seeing Ben Watson when taking on the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship due to the tight end dealing with appendicitis.

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams will face their toughest battle of the season when taking on the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship with a trip to Atlanta on the line to represent the conference in this year’s Super Bowl.

Despite what took place in the regular season in which the Rams came up on the losing end 45-35, Sean McVay knows the circumstances are much different this time around, and his team has learned a lot since the first meeting.

Between having Aqib Talib healthy again along with New Orleans not looking as dominant over the last month or so, there are plenty of reasons to believe Los Angeles will finish on the winning end in this one, whether it’s easy or not.

Keeping players like Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara in check will certainly be key for the Rams when seeing how the Saints’ offense is loaded with talent to make life much easier for Drew Brees under center.

However, it looks like New Orleans will be without one of their top weapons in Ben Watson at tight end, who unfortunately is dealing with appendicitis, and has already been ruled out for the NFC Championship.

First off, one can’t help but feel bad for a veteran like Watson since the tight end already announced this will be his final NFL season, and there’s nothing he would love more than to be on the field Sunday with the rest of his teammates.

Watson may not be on the same consistent level as some of the other tight ends across the league when it comes to putting up big numbers each week, but also there have been times in which he emerges out of nowhere with an impressive game.

With that being said, just because Watson will be absent from Sunday’s game doesn’t necessarily mean things are going to get any easier for the Rams since Brees still has plenty of other reliable targets to work with on offense.

If anything, Los Angeles may have to deal with the extra fear of which member of New Orleans may step up in the absence of Watson since the last thing the defense can afford is to be unprepared in a meaningful game like this.
