3 quick reactions to Los Angeles Rams earning trip to Super Bowl 53

3. Controversy towards end of regulation
No matter how hard the Rams try to escape the conversation of what was clearly a blown missed call by officials towards the end of regulation when Nickell Robey-Coleman should have been called for pass interference, they won’t be able to avoid the topic.
Rightfully so, the Saints have every reason in the world to feel frustrated towards the officiating since that penalty most likely would have resulted in New Orleans going on to win the game. Not to mention, Sean Payton already received word from the league that it was a blown call, making this entire situation even more frustrating for the Saints to accept.
Then again, the Rams could also make the case that Jared Goff watched the officials miss a facemask penalty on that one key drive as well, so some of the calling in general is going to receive plenty of criticism.
Knowing McVay, the head coach will make sure this controversy won’t become a distraction for his team over the next two weeks since the conversation isn’t going to go away anytime soon. Still, when looking at how big of a missed call this was, one can only imagine how the Saints and their fans are feeling after this one.
