The Los Angeles Rams hope to prevent Tom Brady from winning his sixth Super Bowl title as the starting quarterback for the New England Patriots.
Back in the offseason when the Los Angeles Rams had the mindset of putting together the necessary team to make a Super Bowl run, they knew deep down there was a good chance that if this were to happen, the New England Patriots could be a potential opponent.
Throughout his career, Tom Brady has always made the Patriots one of the top contenders in the AFC at the beginning of each season, and with the future Hall of Famer set to appear in his ninth Super Bowl this Sunday, it’s easy to make the case for being one of the greatest of all time.
With that being said, what Brady has been able to accomplish at the age of 41 has truly been amazing after seeing how many previous players his age called it a career a long time ago.
Even more terrifying, Brady still seems capable of lasting a few more years in the NFL with no signs of slowing down any time soon, which he actually discussed in a recent interview.
Brady made it clear to ESPN that even if New England were to finish on the winning end against Los Angeles to be crowned Super Bowl 53 champions, he still wouldn’t call it a career by retiring from the NFL.
In other words, since Brady is already making it clear that he plans to be back for the 2019 season and won’t retire, the Rams won’t be able to send the Patriots quarterback out on a low if they happen to defeat him during Super Bowl 53 on Sunday.
Los Angeles knows that in order to be the best, they will have to take down the best. And with Brady already having five Super Bowl titles to his name, not even a loss to the Rams on Sunday can take away from the kind of impact he’s made on the game all these years.
Still, even though the news of Brady’s plans to return for the 2019 season shouldn’t seem like that much of a surprise, it would have been amazing to see a young team like the Rams potentially take down the Patriots star during his final game if retirement were an option.
Maybe down the road, Los Angeles will actually find themselves in position to pull this off on Brady since the Rams and Patriots have made it clear they’re built to seriously contend for years to come, meaning another future Super Bowl meeting could take place.
